Steel Strip Pre-Paint Coil Coater
Color Coating Line Coil Coater
The coil coater is the core application unit of a Continuous Color Coating Line (CCL), integrating mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical control systems. It precisely meters liquid coatings—including polyester, silicon-modified, PVDF, and epoxy—onto one or both surfaces of the strip via high-precision rollers. This forms a uniform wet film which is subsequently cured in the oven to create decorative and protective finishes.
Technical Specifications
· Substrate: Cold-rolled steel, Galvanized (GI), Galvalume (GL), Silicon Steel
· Strip Thickness: 0.15 – 1.5 mm (up to 4.0 mm optional)
· Strip Width: 650 – 1650 mm
· Line Speed: up to 280 m/min
· Coating Method: 2-roll / 3-roll / 4-roll system (Forward or Reverse)
· Control: PLC-based automation; closed-loop wet film control via roller gap, speed ratio, and pressure settings. Optional inline X-ray/gamma backscatter gauging.
Key Features
· High-Speed Stability: Anti-splash design ensures streak-free coating at maximum line speed.
· Quick Changeover: Draw-out coater heads allow fast color changes and maintenance without lengthy downtime.
· Versatile Application: Handles primers, topcoats, backers, and laminating adhesives (solvent-borne and water-borne).
· Process Integration: Synchronized operation with pretreatment, annealing, and curing ovens to ensure consistent gloss, color, and mechanical properties (T-bend, impact).
Application
Essential for producing high-quality prepainted steel used in construction (roofing, cladding), home appliances, and industrial packaging.
