Jiade Rotary Scrap Chopper (also known as a Scrap Chopper or Side Trim Chopper) is an essential auxiliary machine used in coil processing lines, such as Continuous Galvanizing Lines (CGL), pickling lines, and Recoiling Lines. It is installed in tandem with the Side Trimmer to cut continuous steel strip edges into short, manageable segments for easy disposal and recycling.

2. Working Principle

The machine operates on a dual-rotor rotary shearing principle:

· Two counter-rotating cutter shafts (drums) are equipped with spiral blades.

· The continuous scrap edge from the side trimmer is guided into the nip point of the rotating blades.

· The helical design ensures progressive cutting, which minimizes impact force, reduces noise, and provides stable cutting performance even at high line speeds.

5. Main Components

6. Selection & Usage Notes

· Blade Clearance: Must be adjusted according to strip thickness (for thin sheets, approx. 5%–8% of thickness). Otherwise, large burrs or jamming may occur.

· Scrap Width: Excessively narrow scrap (<5mm) tends to slip and excessively wide scrap (>50mm) creates high shear force—ensure motor power is sufficient.

· Consumables: Blades are consumable parts. It is recommended to keep a spare set of blade disks for regular sharpening or replacement.

· Surface Protection: When producing high-surface-quality products like appliance panels, ensure the guide channel is smooth to prevent the scrap edge from scratching the strip surface.
